  • $140 million in Paradise Unified School Districts Master Plan Priorities, almost half of which is currently funded through insurance proceeds.
  • $22 million in grant funds awarded to the City of Chico for road and infrastructure Improvements

Town of Paradise Capital Improvement and Disaster Recovery Projects

Over the next 5 years there are 36 proposed projects that total $121 Million from 17 different funding sources.

Funded and Approved Projects:

  • Ponderosa Elementary Safe Routes to School; add sidewalks, curbs and gutters along Pentz Road between 300’ north of Wagstaff Road and tie into existing sidewalks just north of Bille Road on both sides of the roadway. Class II Bicycle Lanes will be added to the existing roadway section to allow for bicyclists to use Pentz Road Est. $1,646,115
  • PSPS Preparedness; Various projects for Public Safety Power Shutdown preparation. Work includes generator purchases for traffic signal operations. Est. $300,000
  • Skyway at Black Olive Traffic Signal; installation a four‐way traffic signal at the intersection of Skyway at Black Olive Drive. Est. $868,401
  • Almond Street Multi‐Modal Improvements; add sidewalks, curbs and gutters to Almond Street between Pearson Road and Elliott Road. In addition, construction will widen Almond Street to incorporate Class II Bicycle Lanes on both sides of the To facilitate the construction of these improvements, underground drainage needs to be addressed and is included in the project.   • Systemic Intersection Safety Improvement; Systemically improve (16) stop‐controlled intersections at various locations town wide. Est. $1,228,400
  • On‐System Culvert Replacement; Replace damaged On‐System HDPE culverts with RCP pipe culverts, including restoration of the roadway section above the pipe at various locations. Est. $922,950
  • On‐System Hardscape Replacement; Replace damaged hardscape, including concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk, lighting, planters, and other amenities at various locations. Est. $867,790
  • On‐System Road Rehabilitation; On‐System roadway rehabilitation consisting of asphalt concrete overlays and full depth sections for areas with severe pavement damage. Est. $36,290,000

  • Neal Road Rehab; On‐System roadway rehabilitation along 1.63 miles of Neal Road from Wayland Road to Skyway consisting of 2‐inch grind and 3‐inch asphalt concrete (AC) overlay of the entire roadway section with digout areas of 3‐inch AC and 4‐inch aggregate base for sections with severe rutting and Est. $1,713,000
  • Emergency Guard Rail Repairs: Emergency replacement of MBGR at (5) locations was completed in Nov‐Dec 2018 due to damage during the Camp Fire wildfire.* Emergency Operations work completed prior to reopening of the Town of Paradise in December 2018. $67,900

  • Camp Fire Septic Tank Replacement Pilot Program; SB862 Household Emergency Relief Grants Project: Grant available to replace residential septic systems that were damaged/destroyed by the Camp Fire or debris removal; available to property owners who lost their home in the Camp Fire and have applied for a building permit to rebuild their home. Est. $570.000

  • Pentz Pathway Project; Construct a grade separated, Class I, bike‐ped facility along the west side of Pentz Road between Pearson Rd and Billie Rd (1.63 miles). This project will tie into funded improvements between Billie Road and Wagstaff Road. $700K CMAQ funding secured for Preliminary Engineering and Right‐of‐Way phases
  • Skyway‐Neal Bike/Pedestrian Pathway; Along Neal Road, construct a grade separated, Class I, bike‐ped facility along the west side of Neal Road within the project limits. This component will tie into project will tie into Butte County Class II Bike Lanes which terminate at Town Limits, bringing both novice and experienced bicyclists and pedestrians to existing the 5‐mile Class I facility at the Neal/Skyway intersection. Along Skyway, infill all missing sidewalks to connect to area resources and government facilities. $550K CMAQ funding secured for Preliminary Engineering and Right‐of‐Way phases
  • Oliver Curve Pathway; Along Oliver Road, construct a grade separated, Class I, bike‐ped facility along the west side of Oliver Road within the project limits. This project is a proactive safety effort to protect bicyclists and pedestrians along a heavily traveled corridor around a horizontal curve. In this location, the many daily bicyclists and pedestrians are forced to walk the edge line, causing vehicles to swerve into oncoming traffic. $350k CMAQ funding secured for Preliminary Engineering and Right‐of‐Way

  • Early Warning System; Early Warning System design, scoping and planning for an emergency warning system for the purpose of providing rapid hazard notification throughout the Town of Paradise for wildfire as well as other hazards. Est. 54,000
  • Hazardous Fuel Reduction Program; Fuels reduction (vegetation management) on Town properties and along Rights of Ways throughout the Town. Est. 1,625,000
  • Defensible Space Code Enforcement; Funding for a Code Enforcement Supervisor/Fire Marshall and 2 Enforcement Officers to enhance existing code enforcement efforts with vegetation inspection, not building
