What is the #1 cause of citation and death for California construction companies?

Falls

According to the US Dept of Labor, falls in construction are the leading cause of death, injury & citations.  https://www.osha.gov/oshstats/commonstats.html

#1 in Construction’s “Fatal Four”

Out of 4,693 worker fatalities in private industry in calendar year 2016, 991 or 21.1% were in construction — that is, one in five worker deaths last year were in construction. The leading causes of private sector worker deaths in the construction industry were falls.

  • Falls — 384 out of 991 total deaths in construction in CY 2016 (38.7%)

#1 on the Top 10 of most frequently cited OSHA standards violated in FY 2017

  1. Fall protection, construction

Seems to be a pattern…
Falls are the leading cause of construction-related deaths, AND lack of fall protection (equipment, plan and implementation) is  the number one cited violation.

Do you think if we quit violating the standards, we could quit killing our workers?

Our Fall Protection, Competent Person class is your first step in preventing workplace falls.  This class covers active & passive restraint systems, rules & regulations and hands on demonstrations.  Attendees must bring lanyard & harness.
