Lunch & Learn: Employee vs Independent Contractor
October 17, 2018 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm
$35 – $75One of the most common mistakes made by employers is misclassifying employees as independent contractors. While some employers misclassify workers because they don’t understand the law, other employers intentionally do so to avoid their legal obligations to employees.
On April 30, 2018, the California Supreme Court adopted a more rigid, three-prong “ABC” test to establish worker classification. Now, in order to classify a worker as an independent contractor, companies must prove that all three are true.
Find out more at this month’s Lunch & Learn, presented by Tracie Hannick of the Bean Counting Firm. What you’ll learn:
- What are the three requirements?
- Who does it apply to?
- How you can use the 3-prong test to protect yourself against lawsuits and penalty payments.
